Self Care Week
Are you a healthcare professional, volunteer or business that cares about supporting Bromley residents affected by dementia? Then we have exciting news for you!
Coinciding with National Carers Rights Day, the Bromley Dementia Friendly Community (Bromley DFC) is staging a FREE showcase. Join us to hear the important work we undertake, both as a group of volunteers and in collaboration with our valued partner organisations.
Guest Speaker
We are delighted to say we will be joined by Laura Cook, the Clinical Programme Lead - Ageing Well and Clinical Networks, at NHS England, London Region.
Now in our ninth year, the BDFC links the statutory and non-statutory and raises awareness of how to support all those affected by dementia.
Bromley Innovation Fund has supported the development of our work which includes our new website and now we want to share this resource with the wider Bromley community!
Young Onset Dementia Group
Our showcase event will also highlight the Young Onset Dementia group, who have devised a unique way to share their talents and to inform us about the condition from their lived experiences.
Local Businesses
We will also highlight examples of where local BDFC businesses and groups have collaborated to provide dementia friendly initiatives - eg dementia chair exercises (MyTime Active and Memory Box Dementia Café) and the Connections Café (Quest Soul Theatre and Radfield Home Care).
NEW Dementia Friendly Award
We will be announcing the criteria for the Borough’s new Dementia Friendly Award, named after Cora Phillips, a co-founder of the Alzheimer’s Society and who held their first meeting in Bromley. We are delighted that her daughter is planning to join us to present the award.
Our Independent panel of judges will include Professor Martin Green OBE, CEO of Care England and Dementia Champion for the Department of Health and Social Care and Keith Oliver, author who is living with dementia. We thank all our judges for generously sharing their time and expertise with us.
So, if you are a Bromley business or a service, or a community organisation supporting those affected by dementia join us to hear how you can submit your entry.
The award will be presented during Dementia Action Week 2025, exact date to be confirmed.
